Dear Colleagues,
It is with a full heart that I share my retirement from my role as Special Needs Parent Liaison.
Serving our families and working alongside such dedicated educators, administrators, and community partners has been one of the greatest honors of my life. Your advocacy, resilience, and deep love for our children have inspired me every single day.
When I began this work, my hope was to help families feel heard, supported, and empowered as they navigated services and supports. Over the years, I have witnessed incredible collaboration and a shared commitment to ensuring every child receives the understanding and opportunities they deserve. It has been a privilege to walk beside you through both celebrations and challenges.
While I am stepping away from this role, my work is far from over. I will continue serving our community through the nonprofit Special Care Angels, where we are raising funds and expanding programs to create meaningful opportunities for individuals with special needs.
Advocacy is not a position—it’s a calling. Creating programs, building community, connecting families, and pushing for better will always be part of who I am. I look forward to continuing to support families in Vacaville and throughout Solano County.
I may be stepping away from the role, but I will never step away from this community. Thank you for allowing me to be part of your journey.
With Sincere Gratitude,
Angel Hixson
